Everything New Coming to Walt Disney World in 2022

Since the reopening Walt Disney World resort has seen a lot of changes, from new health and safety protocols, to food and merchandise, and even new restaurants and rides. The 50th anniversary brought a lot of celebration specific offerings in 2021, but there's even more to come in 2022.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser

The Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser is a completely immersive, all inclusive Star Wars hotel experience. For 2 days, guests will eat, breath, and live their Star Wars role play fantasy. This experience is similar to a cruise, where most of your time will be spent doing activities within the hotel, except for the excursion into Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge (in Hollywood Studios) through an exclusive portal. Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser opens March 1, 2022, and bookings are available now.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will be an action packed omnicoaster attraction, merging the omnimover vehicle with a rollercoaster. This new system allows the ride to turn guests to face the scenes around them throughout the ride. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is scheduled open in the World Discovery section of EPCOT this summer.

Journey of Water

Journey of Water, inspired by Moana, is a new walk-through experience where guests will be able to interact with water in ways they never dreamed, just like Moana herself. This walk-through will not only be beautiful and connect guests with nature, but also educate guests on the water cycle. Journey of Water will be located in the World Nature section of EPCOT and although it is slated to open this year, Disney has not released on opening date.




Connections Café and Eatery

Connections Café and Eatery is a quick service restaurant that is planned to open in the World Celebration section of EPCOT in 2022. Disney has not released details about the type of cuisine to expect or the timeline of Connections Café and Eatery opening.




Play! Pavilion

The Play! Pavilion will be themed as an interactive city and allow guests to interact with their favorite characters like Edna Mode, Judy Hopps, and Donald's nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie. While Disney has not released an official opening date, the Play! Pavilion will be in the World Discovery section of EPCOT and is slated to open this year.




Roundup Rodeo BBQ

Roundup Rodeo BBQ will be Toy Story Land's newest dining option. Toy Story Land in Hollywood Studios has been notorious for its lack of dining space, and Roundup Rodeo BBQ is coming to solve this solution. Before entering the restaurant, guests will experience a new rodeo play area, created by ANDY. Disney has not released an official opening timeline other than it is slated to open this year.

MagicBand+

MagicBands were initially introduced to the Walt Disney World resort back in 2013. Since then, they have been updated to be able to unlock your Walt Disney World resort hotel room, paying for purchases throughout the resort, link ride photos to your Photopass, and tap in to the Lightning Lane queue for your Genie+ reservations, previously Fastpass+ queues. MagicBand+ will do all that, but with also have interactive features including: color changing ring around the center icon, vibrations, and gesture recognition. MagicBand+ will also interact with nighttime shows and the 50th anniversary golden character statues.

Salt & Straw

Salt & Straw is an ice cream shop focused on small-batch, chef driven hand made ice cream made with local ingredients. Salt & Straw already has a location in Downtown Disney at the Disneyland Resort, and now Disney Springs is getting their very own in 2022. No opening date has been announced.
